Getting started

Therapy is always at your pace and directed by you. Our initial focus will be exploring your difficulties and creating an understanding together of what is causing you to feel stuck or distressed, as we build a relationship where you feel safe and respected.

Throughout this process we can discuss approaches to therapy and together agree the best way to work towards your goals.

Goals and ways of working can change as therapy goes on if we think this is right for you  - we will review our work regularly.

Psychological therapy involves your commitment to attend sessions as agreed, and a genuine desire to change. Therapy can result in you experiencing discomfort and strong feelings, and it is impossible to guarantee any specific results regarding therapy goals. However, we will work together to achieve the best possible preferred and realistic results for you.

If at any time I don't think my services are the best fit for you, I will help you find a suitable alternative.

Person-centred/experiential therapy

Within this therapy you choose the focus for each session, benefitting from time to talk, explore, and connect with your own experience. We can talk about the past, present or future, and any aspect of life.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

This therapy might involve writing down thoughts, trying out new ways of behaving, and we will focus on the here-and-how as we collaboratively work towards your goals.
